Longbow Holiday Classic

[read_time]

The Phoenix Chapter continues to grow, and we appreciate all of the players who have come out this season already. The Longbow Holiday Classic is one of the hidden gems on our schedule, and this event did not disappoint! The course was in fantastic shape, our pace was outstanding as usual, and all 5 divisions came down to the final hole including 1 playoff.

Our Division 1 winner, Ryan Finney (Scottsdale, AZ), used an eagle on Hole 15 to give himself just enough cushion to withstand a late charge by Matt Minder (Decatur, IL). Minder had a good look at birdie on 18 to try and force a playoff, but just missed the double-breaker putt. Travis Zappia (Phoenix, AZ) and Hunter DeCamp (Scottsdale, AZ) were both in the mix throughout, tying for 3rd, and look like they will be regulars near the top of the leaderboard based on the first three events!

In Division 2, Curt Bressner (Buckeye, AZ) and Patrick MacQueen (Phoenix, AZ) finished tied at +6 and needed 2 playoff holes to determine a champion! Bressner managed to come out on top with a birdie on the 2nd playoff hole. Andy Sturdivant (Scottsdale, AZ) and Michael Goulet (Phoenix, AZ) tied for third, 5 strokes off the pace.

Newcomer David Bracamonte took home the Division 3 trophy at +10, narrowly edging out Johnny Gastelum (Tucson, AZ) by 1 stroke. Bracamonte shot even par on the front 9 and held a six-stroke lead at the turn before Gastelum mounted a comeback down the stretch.

Division 4 saw Robert “El Machino” Mancha (Apache Junction, AZ) take home the trophy with an 89! Mancha held a 1-stroke lead going into 18 over past champ Reanol Hackworth (Scottsdale, AZ) and Rob Vincent (Polk City, IA) in the same foursome, but managed to hold them both off!

Shayne Del Rosario (Apache Junction, AZ) won the Division 5 trophy with a career-best at Longbow 93, battling Jordan Murry (Scottsdale, AZ) and Dick Czeslawski (Surprise, AZ) down to the wire, with the lead changing hands for the last time on 18.

Finally, in our Senior Double Dip event, Donna Brown (Chandler, AZ) finished with a net +3 to outlast Michael Goulet (Phoenix, AZ), Ed Hedrick (Scottsdale, AZ), and “El Machino” Mancha who all finished tied for 2nd at +6.

Overall, our players were paid out over $1,125 in Visa Gift Cards, and $985 in side games!

Our next tour stop will be at TPC Scottsdale on Saturday, January 28th. Straight tee times will begin at 10:00am!
