Links O’Tryon Golf Tournament Results

The 2022 Upstate Season of the Amateur Players Tour kicked off in Campobello, SC at the Links O’Tryon Golf Course.  It was a fantastic start with 63 Players from 3 different Chapters being represented.  Players experienced a beautiful spring afternoon with 25 mph wind gusts thrown in just to challenge the players even more.  Links O’ Tryon, although wet from the rain the night before, was in good shape. The wind and wet conditions made the course play longer than usual.

In Division 1 we had 9 players compete on this day.  Dan Constantino (Upstate) continued his strong play from 2021. On the front nine, Dan only had 1 birdie and 3 bogies for a 38 but the best was yet to come. Dan recorded 4 birdies on his way to shoot 35. His total of 73 was good enough to hang on for the win.  Greg Moore (Upstate) & Jacob Sigmon (Upstate) finished tied for second and third place with 76.

Congrats Dan!!!

In Division 2, Tyler Grennan (Upstate) & Joe Tucker (Upstate) finished tied at 75. At the turn, Joe had a 1 shot lead on Tyler but Tyler fired a 35 on the back to force the tie. Both players preceded to hole #1 for the sudden death playoff. Joe’s tee shot went out of bounds and Tyler was able to put away the win on the first playoff hole. Robert LaCombe finished in third place with 78.

CongratsTyler!!!

In Division 3 we had 19 players battle it out.  Ric Oyervides (Upstate) fired a 39-39 for 78 to take home the first-place trophy. Ric had no birdies on the day but was able to get up and down on several holes to secure the win. Doug Dietz (Upstate) fired an 80 to take home the second-place prize money and edged out Jesse Randall (Upstate) by 3 shots.

Congrats Ric!!!

In Division 4, Ellis Williams III (Upstate) started off with a disappointing 46 on the front nine but with a birdie-birdie finish on 17 &18, his 41 and his total of 87 secured the first-place trophy and prize money. Finishing second was new member Maurice Sherman (Upstate) with a 92 just edging out Ryan Lahn (Upstate) with a 94.

Congrats Ellis!!!

In Division 5 Gregg Pruitt (Upstate) took the lead early and never looked back.  Greg’s score of 89 was good enough for a 7-stroke victory over Phil Long (Upstate) who shot 96.

Congrats Gregg!!!

NEW FOR 2022

The first ever Senior Net competition was a new competition for those players 50 years of age or older.  Congratulations to Joe Tucker (Division 2), Ric Oyevides (Division 3) and Ellis Williams III (Division 4) who tied for the win with a score of -2.
