On Friday, April 16th, the Tri-Cities/Southwest Virginia chapter had our second tour stop at Glenrochie Country Club in Abingdon, VA. A buzz was in the air as players anxiously awaited getting the second tournament underway, earning valuable points towards qualifying for the inaugural North American Championship at Pinehurst Resorts in October. A competitive field faced windy conditions, but a golf course that was in excellent shape.
In Division 1, Peyton Wilson battled his way to a +14 over 86 on his way to victory. Tyler Jeansonne finished two shot back with an +16 over 88.
In Division 2, Ronnie Burton took home the victory with a +10 over 82. Anthony Stout the Tri-Cities/SWVA chapter owner finished four shot back with a +14 over 86. Marvin Orio finished third nine shots back at +19 over 91.
In Division 3, Austin Thompson bested the field with a nice +13 over 85. Brad Carr finished second one shot back with a +14 over 86.
In Division 4, Samuel Miller shot a solid +17 over 89 to take home the victory. Josh Holmes finished one shot back with a nice +18 over 90. Jason Mitcham finished third three shots back with a strong +20 over 92.
In Division 5, Josh Hyatt started his victory campaign with a four shot victory shooting a solid +33 over 105. Aaron Carr finished the day in tough conditions with a +37 over 109. Finishing third was Skyler Thompson with a +40 over 112.
From here, the APT moves to Greysburg Hills Golf Club on Saturday, April 24th. We look forward to seeing everyone for another exciting APT tournament and another chance to earn valuable points in our local Player of the Year race.
