Far Oaks Golf Club Senior Golf Tournament Results

[read_time]

On Monday, the St. Louis Senior Tour converged on Far Oaks Golf Club, where for the first time this season players experienced firm and fast course conditions.  The greens were rolling well, and the scores certainly showed it as the 57-player senior only field shot some great scores.  A special thank you to Doyle Moffitt and his team at Far Oaks for having the golf course in such great shape!

In Division 1, Greg Lewis jumped quickly out of the gate, shooting a 2-under par 70 to earn his second win of the season (Tamarack CC).  Lewis used a hot start out of the gate, with 3 birdies against no bogeys in his first 11 holes to earn the victory.  Geff Dunn finished in 2nd place with a solid round of 73, just 3 shots off of the pace.

In Division 2, Michael Mervis started his round hot, with a bogey free 35 on the front 9 to take the early lead.  While the D2 field was competitive, Mervis birdied the par-4 15th hole to put the event out of reach of his challengers, firing his APT best even-par 72 to earn his first victory of the 2022 season.  2021 Player of the Year Dave Adams continued his good play with a 76 to finish in 2nd place, while Lance Davidson shot 77 to finish in 3rd place.

In Division 3, Simay Souvannarath returned to the winners circle for the first time since earning the 2020 Player of the Year honors, firing a 5-over par 77 to best a crowded field of contenders.  6 players would finish within 2-shots of the lead.  Gary Hutchcraft and Tim Leonberger would finish tied for 2nd with 78, while John Reed, Norm Slazinik, and Jason Christopher would finish T-4th with rounds of 79.

In Division 4, Eric Willingham had a day on his home course.  His 2-over par 74 was his best career round on the APT by 9 strokes and earned him a 7-shot victory!  Congrats on your great play Eric!  Sudhakar Injamuri, Steve Minder, and Mike Marchbanks each tied for 2nd place with rounds of 81, and Michael Scoles finished in 5th with 83.

In Division 5, Tony Brose played a great round to earn his first APT victory, shooting a 14-over 86 to earn a 4-shot victory over Michael Moynihan, who finished in 2nd place with a 90.  3rd place honors belonged to Craig Uttendorf, who’s round of 91 was good enough to get him into the money.

The next senior event will be held on Monday, May 23rd at Lake Forest Country Club.  This will be a double-dip event where players can choose to play in the morning or the afternoon wave.  Registration closes on May 16th.
