Eagle Pointe Golf Club

The Houston APT tour made its way to Eagle Pointe GC on Saturday, June 3rd.  Weather conditions were sunny and hot! The course set up proved to be a challenge for a majority of golfers, especially when they found themselves on the wrong side of the hole with several tough pin placements throughout. Short puts tended to get longer if you missed the hole!  

Division 1 crowned a new Houston APT member with their first win of the season. Marc Young (74) took 1st place as he out dueled Richard Michalsky (76) down the stretch. Phillip Littlefield (79) finished in third. 

The final two holes at Eagle Pointe have been known to shake up the leaderboard as was the case with Division 2. Barry Seabranch (80) started strong and was able to hold off three late challengers to secure 1st place by one shot. Jason McCain (81), Darien Duhon (81), and Troy White (81) tied for second place. 

Division 3 player Mark Gonzales (78) overcame a one-shot deficit at the turn with a solid one over on the back 9 to claim 1st place. Newly promoted D3 player Tony Rose (83) finished second and Phoenix chapter member Gary Vernier (86) finished in third.  

Division 4 came down to the wire in true Eagle Pointe fashion. The very challenging 18th hole was the deciding factor as Alvin Miles (85) took 1st place. Newly promoted D4 player Todd Nobles finished second and Edgardo Acevedo (89) rounded out the top three with third place. 

Division 5 also crowned a new first-time champion as Carolina Ackerman (89) won 1st place with a commanding 5-shot lead. Eddie Haynes (94) and Rob Vespa (94) tied for second place.  

First place in the Senior Net Division want to Mark Gonzales (-1) as a result of his back 9 play where he held off Tony Rose (+1) and Troy White (+2).

Next up for Houston APT is a Mid-Season Major to be held at Wildcat on June 17rd!  The tournament will earn double points for POY races and have an increased prize pool.
