Border Battle Golf Tournament Results

The Amateur Players Tour Palmetto-Highlands Chapter (Upstate, SC) held their local finals at the Cateechee Club and Curahee Golf Club in Georgia this past weekend.

Forty-five players from seven APT Chapters enjoyed the morning sunrises, fun evenings and some competitive golf.

DAY 1

Division 1

Four players separated themselves from the field in Division 1. Dan Constantino (41-37-78) would find himself in fourth position after the round. Scott Roberts (39-36-75) would complete the day in third place. Ron Clontz (38-36-74) found himself in second place. Tim Saunders (34-38-72) set the pace for the field and would sleep on a two-shot lead.

Division 2

Three players positioned themselves for a big win on day one. Johnny Pierce (39-42-81) would finish his round in third. Stew Kremer (37-43-80) positioned himself in second place. Bobby Ream (42-37-79) was atop the leaderboard with a one-shot lead.

Division 3

Jeffery Johnston (47-40-87) would find himself in third after his round. Shawn Powers (44-41-85) would finish day 1 in second place. Kevin Stines (40-39-79) would build a commanding 6 shot lead.

Division 4

Division 4 had two players position themselves atop the leaderboard. Ellis Williams III (41-47-88) found himself in second after the first round. Kip Moore (46-41-87) would hold the overnight lead.

Division 5

Doug Gibbs (49-49-98) would find himself 5 shots back in second after the round. Keith Gibson (43-50-93) would have the hot round to position himself atop the leaderboard.

DAY 2

Division 1

Scott Roberts (39-35-74) would improve over his day 1 efforts but would ultimately settle for second. Tim Saunders (36-35-71) continued his steady play with another level par round to take the title with a two-day total of 143

Division 2

Stew Kremer (41-38-79) and Johnny Pierce (43-35-77) would need extra holes to determine a winner. Stew Kremer would win the sudden death playoff to take the title. Both players had a two-day total of 159

Division 3

Kevin Stines (46-44-90) fell off the pace on day 2 and would settle for second with a two-day total of 169. Shawn Powers (46-37-83) would make the charge on the back nine to grab the title by one stroke with a two-day total of 168.

Division 4

Ellis Williams III (46-46-92) would play consistent on day two but his two-day total of 180 would only be good enough for second place. Todd Garrett (47-42-89) takes home the trophy, winning by one shot with two-day total of 179

Division 5

Keith Gibson (54-46-100) stayed focused on the prize during his second round. Keith would run away with the title by five shouts with a two-day total of 193.
