Blackthorn At The Ridges
On Monday 7/12/21, the Tri-Cities/Southwest Virginia chapter had our 10th tour stop at Blackthorn At The Ridges in Jonesbourough, TN. A buzz was in the air as players anxiously awaited getting the tournament underway, earning valuable points towards qualifying for the inaugural North American Championship at Pinehurst Resorts in October. A competitive field faced sunny and warm conditions, but a golf course that was in excellent shape.
In Division 1, WV Jerod Ewing battled his way to a -3 under par 69 on his way to victory leaving no one to keep pace with his 6 birdies. Tyler Jeansonne had his best round of the year turning in a 2 over par 74. Anthony Stout came in at 5 over par 77. Peyton Wilson rounded out the D1 division with a +11 over par 83.
In Division 2, Mike Wilkins took home the victory with a +5 over 77 racking up on the skins today with 3. Joe Avento came in with a solid round of +7 over par 79. Larry Mullins had a solid first tour event with a +9 81.
In Division 3, Michael Ridge bested the field with a solid round of +11 83 hanging on to the victory over visiting Carolina Triad Player Maximillian Morris has a solid round of +12 84. Brad Carr finished the day at +23 95. Trevor Holmes came in at +25 over par 97.
In Division 4, Samuel Miller shot a solid round of +14 over par 86 but that was not enough to claim the victory in 18 holes over Dylan Isaacs +14 over par 86. They took off for the playoff on hole number 1 and Samuel Miller stayed strong to take the victory. Daniel England +17 over par 89, Rob Luffman +18 over par 90, WV Justin Keaton at +20 over par 92, Smoky Mountain Sammy Sedman +22 over par 94, Troy Holmes +30 over par 102.
In Division 5, Guest Michael Ridge SR with a nice +25 over par 97. WV Jason Massie +26 over par 98, Josh Hyatt +27 over par 99, Ray Wilson +43 over par 115.
From here, the APT moves to Johnson City Country Club on Monday July 26, 2021. We look forward to seeing everyone for another exciting APT tournament and another chance to earn valuable points in our local Player of the Year race.
