Bear Trace at Tims Ford Golf Tournament Results

[read_time]

The Music City/Nashville Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour traveled southeast down I-24 to compete on the Jack Nicklaus Signature course at Tims Ford. 65 players across five divisions competed for trophies, VISA gift cards, and optional side games, totaling just over $3,200.

In Division One, Hayden Elder posted a front-nine score of two-under 34 to take a substantial four-stroke lead at the turn and was able to capture the win with a finishing total of one-under 70.

In Division Two, The par 3 18th proved to be deciding factor in the final outcome. Cary Anderson and Johnny Pierce finished their rounds tied at 3-over 74, but not without drama. Anderson, sitting at even par after 17 holes, triple-bogeyed the 18th put him in the clubhouse in second place. Similar to Anderson, Pierce held the lead by one stroke standing on the 18th tee, but a bogey on the final hole pushed him in to a playoff with Anderson. Both players headed to the 1st for the playoff and it was quick decided after one hole with Pierce taking the victory. Anderson takes second place and Wesley Locke finishes in third place with his four-over 75.

In Division Three, the lead changed hands multiple times during the round between Birmingham Chapter member, Ande Jones, and Jonathan Little.  The last four holes proved to be the difference maker as Jones prevailed by two strokes as she mixed a birdie, a bogey and couple of pars while Little had two bogeys. Nick Wunderlin finishes five strokes back in third place.

In Division Four Aaron Smith made it two wins in two starts on tour with a four-stroke victory over Joe Smolira and Jeff Noffsinger. Smith posted twelve-over 83 while Smolira and Noffsinger post sixteen-over 87.

In Division Five, the last four holes determined the victor where if you play well, you may come away with the hardware.  Rachel Guthrie shoots 12-over 83 to narrowly defeat Birmingham Chapter member, Don Hamblett, who shot 14-over 85.  As mentioned, Guthrie was able to score over the last four holes, scoring three pars against one bogey and Hamblett went three-over during the same stretch.  David McDow was able to sneak in a take third place with a 21-over round of 92.

The Senior Net competition, which allows members that are 50 years and older to participate in a separate, coinciding tournament, was a battle. Birmingham Chapter member, Don Hamblett, captured first place by one stroke with a net score of four-under.  He bested Tennessee East Chapter member, Johnny Pierce, who took second place with a net scored of three-under 68.
