AMATEUR PLAYERS TOUR RAISES $100,000 FOR FOLDS OF HONOR, SUPPORTING MILITARY AND FIRST RESPONDERS FAMILIES

[Decatur, IL, January 2, 2024] – The Amateur Players Tour (APT) is proud to announce a significant milestone in its philanthropic efforts for the year 2023. Embodying the spirit of camaraderie and charity, the APT has successfully raised $100,000 for Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational scholarships to the families of fallen or disabled service members and first responders.

Founded in 2007, Folds of Honor has been a beacon of hope and support, offering life-changing scholarships to over 51,000 spouses and children of America’s heroes. The organization’s mission is a commitment to honor the sacrifice and educate the legacy of America’s fallen and disabled military and first responders, ensuring their families are not forgotten. Their efforts have been acknowledged with the Candid Platinum Seal and a 4/4 stars ranking on Charity Navigator, with 91 cents of every dollar donated going directly to supporting scholarships .

This year, the Amateur Players Tour introduced a new initiative, enabling players to become Folds of Honor Partners. This partnership included a direct contribution of $75 from each membership towards Folds of Honor, alongside various perks for the members. The enthusiastic response from the APT community not only highlights their dedication to the sport but also their commitment to making a meaningful impact on society. By surpassing their initial goal of $75,000 and reaching a remarkable $100,000 in donations, the APT has set a new standard for charitable efforts within the golf community .

The funds raised will play a crucial role in advancing the mission of Folds of Honor, helping to empower and educate individuals from diverse backgrounds. A total of 45 percent of Folds’ recipients are minorities. The APT’s contribution is a testament to the power of collective effort and the positive impact the sporting community can have on the lives of those who have made tremendous sacrifices for the nation.

“We are very grateful to the APT team and its players for this life-changing contribution,” said Lt Col Dan Rooney, founder and CEO of Folds of Honor. “The individuals that facilitate APT events and the participants have made a positive educational impact to those who need and deserve our help. This gift will make a real difference in the number of scholarships we can provide.”

The Amateur Players Tour extends its heartfelt gratitude to all its members and partners who contributed to this noble cause. As the APT continues to grow and foster a spirit of community and giving, this achievement serves as a milestone in their journey, inspiring further charitable endeavors in the future.
