The Houston APT tour’s second event at Bay Forest Golf Club was a windy one. With gusty winds up to 25mph, at times it made the course quite challenging for all divisions.

Division 1 was a tight contest after the front nine. Michael Milstead shot even par on the front with Jared Marusic and last week’s winner Donald Bradham tied at +1(36) one stroke behind. Michael Milstead’s birdie on the 14th hole gave him the lead and he carried it to victory by shooting even par on the back nine and finishing even par for the day (72). Jared Marusic took second with a +2(74).

Division 2 was a one man show with Jason Hawthorn shooting even par on the front nine taking a 4-stroke lead at the turn. Jason increased his lead with two birdies on the back nine to bring home the win with +1(73). With four other golfers fighting for second place, a birdie by Barry Seabranch on 10 was the difference-maker as he took second with a +9(81).

Division 3 was a close contest at the turn with Jack Anderson taking a two-shot lead to the back nine over Chris Toomes. As the lead changes went back and forth on the back nine, Jack Anderson’s solid start on the front nine was the determining factor as he won by one +16(88).

Division 4 was another one man show with John Sparks shooting a +5(40) on the front nine and taking a 4-shot lead at the turn. John increased his lead with two birdies on the back nine and won with a solid +9(81).

Division 5 was a close race between new member Anthony Vespa and veteran member Robert Vespa. This father son battle was close at the turn with Anthony Vespa taking a one-shot lead over his father, Robert Vespa. Experience proved to be the game changer as Robert Vespa won his second tournament in a row with a +19(91).

The Senior Division was a hard fight, but John Sparks’s solid performance gave him the victory with a -7(65) with Chris Toomes taking second at -4(68).

    Congratulations to all the winners!

Next up is Windrose Golf Club on April 20th. This tournament has limited spots and will close this Friday, April 12. At midnight. Sign up early to reserve your spot.
