84 players teed it up on a chilly and blustery day at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course early Saturday morning. Here are the results.
Division 1 – Congratulations Noah Bowers.
5 players competed for the trophy. The competition was fierce as the field witnessed a great comeback by the 2023 National Player of the Year, Dan Ayars, who fought back from a quad 8 on the second hole, going 1 under par for the next 16 holes to end up with a 75 and a tie with Noah Bowers. Noah shot a superb 2 under par on the front 9, only to see his 6 shot lead dwindle away. The two of players went into a sudden death playoff on hole 18. Not to be undeterred, Noah rose to the occasion, coming out victorious on the 3rd playoff hole.
Payout: 1st – Noah Bowers – 75 – $150
Division 2 – Congratulations Gil Moniz.
19 players competed for the trophy. In a very close race to the finish, Gil Moniz and Mike Vawter were deadlocked going into the 18th hole at 3 over par. With steel in his veins, Gil was able to sink his birdie putt on the 18th hole to seal the win by one stroke, shooting a stelar 75.
Payout: 1st – Gil Moniz – 75 – $235, 2nd – Mike Vawter – 75 – $120, 3rd – Tie – Dave Baca & Ed Kochanek – 79 – $60 each.
Division 3 – Congratulations Chad Hertzog. His second win on the tour!
A crowded field of 24 players competed for the Division 3 trophy.
What a barn burner we had for 1st place in Division 3. There were fireworks to behold as Ian Farley recorded an Ace on hole number 15, using a hybrid into the wind, uphill, covering 180 yards. It was a very tough pin to get to. Since Ian had purchased the season long Hole-In-One insurance, he won $500 and a rangefinder from our National Sponsor – Blue Tees.
Ian Farley and Greg Bentzel tied for the lead at the turn, each shooting a solid 2 over par 38. At the turn, Chad Hertzog was 4 strokes back in third shooting a 42. It was to be Chad’s trophy though with his solid play coming down the back stretch shooting stellar 1 under par through the next 8 holes. With a comfortable lead, Chad only needed to avoid a triple bogey on 18 to avoid a playoff. He made it very interesting, carding a double bogey and a score of 79 for the one stroke victory.
Payout: 1st – Chad Hertzog – 79 – $300, 2nd Tie – Ian Farley and Greg Bentzel – 80 – $120 each, 4th – Sal Tomczak – 81 – $60.
Division 4 – Congratulations Stevie Stevenson. His first win on the tour!
A crowded field of 21 players competed for the Division 4 trophy. Four players held the top 4 spots in the end as they were only separated by 1 stroke between each of them. It was Stevie’s 4 over par 40 on the front that made the difference as he held on to card a score of 82, besting 2nd place Brandon Buchanan at 83, 3rd place Matthew Swartz at 84, and 4th place Rocco Giannageli with an 85.
Payout: 1st – Stevie Stevenson – 82 – $260, 2nd – Brandon Buchanan – 83 – $130, 3rd – Matthew Swartz – 84 – $80, 4th – Rocco Giannageli – 85 – $55.
Division 5 – Congratulations Ted Harris. This Ted’s second win on the tour!
A field of 15 players competed to bring home the Division 5 trophy. Looking at the front nine scores, it looked like it would be a battle between the 2nd year player, Ted Harris with a two-shot lead over seasoned veteran Jeff Brodsky. In the end, it was Ted’s steady play over the back nine that made the difference, carding a score of 90 and besting 2nd place winner Jeremiah Cassidy who finished with a 93. Four players finished with a score of 94 for a 3rd place tie. They were Josh King, Jeff Brodsky, Michael Knepp, and Brian Fritzinger. Two players, Michael Knepp, and Skylar Holmes were assessed a two-stroke penalty each for playing from the wrong tees. These competitions are the real deal as we play by, and adhere to, the USGA rules of the game during our competitions.
Payout: 1st – Ted Harris – 90 – $225, 2nd – Jeremiah Cassidy – 93 – $95, 3rd TIE – Josh King, Jeff Brodsky, Michael Knepp, and Brian Fritzinger – 94 – $14 each
Senior Net Competition – Congratulations Gil Moniz.
26 players opted-in to compete for the Senior Net trophy. As was typical for the day, there was another tight race to the finish to determine the winner of the Senior Net competition. Senior Net is for players over the age of 50 who buy in to compete against the field in a net stroke competition. We had 3 players finish the day with a net score of 2 under 70. They were Gil Moniz, Mike Vawter, and Greg Bentzel. Since this is a net competition, the tie was broken using the USGA scorecard playoff system to determine who took home the trophy. Starting with the last nine holes, Gil Moniz had a net 35 for 1st place, followed by Mike Vawter with a net 36, and then Greg Bentzel, with a net 37. As for the prize pool money, all three players spilt the top 3 places. Ray Shelley came in a close 4th place with a 1 under net 71.

Open Net Competition – Congratulations Stevie Stevenson.
14 players opted-in to compete for the Open Net trophy. As was typical for the day, there was another tight race to the finish to determine the winner of the Open Net competition. Open Net is for players under the age of 50 who buy in to compete against the field in a net stroke competition. We had 2 players finish the day with a net score of 3 under 69. They were Stevie Stevenson and Alexis Hartwick. Since this is a net competition, the tie was broken using the USGA scorecard playoff system. Starting with the last nine holes, Stevie Stevenson had a net 36 for 1st place, followed by Alexis Hartwick with a net 37. The scorecard playoff was used to determine who won the trophy. As for the prize pool money, both players spilt the top 2 places. Brandon Buchanan came in a close 3rd place with a 2 under net 70.
