Silver Lakes Golf Tournament Results

[read_time]

The Amateur Players Tour – Birmingham Chapter was treated to fantastic course conditions at Robert Trent Jones Silver Lakes (Mindbreaker-Heartbreaker) in Gadsden, AL. Twenty-two players teed it up for a share of nearly $1200 in total prizes. The Birmingham Chapter would like to thank Jason Callan and the entire Silver Lakes staff for hosting us.

Division 1 was captured by Daniel Love who shot a 1 over 73 on a difficult course from 6,754 yards.  With a late withdraw from another D1 player Daniel Love competed for a specific D1 prize provided he could beat all the D2 players playing from a tee box forward.  His nearest threat was 4 shots back. This is the second victory of the season for Daniel was awarded a $120 Visa Gift Card and victory flag.

Division 2 was a one-horse race for most of the day. Jeremy Key from our visiting Augusta Chapter managed to card a 77 with three birdies on the day to secure the win.  David Brady was 4-strokes back shooting an 81. Jeremy was awarded the victory flag and a Visa Gift Card worth $150.

Division 3 was won by your Chapter Owner Russ Donaldson with a score of 84. A late charge from Jason Browning to go birdie birdie on his last two holes was an exciting finish to capture second place a head of Christian Cox.  Russ secured the victory flag and $150.

Division 4 was a close back and forth all day between Benny Shepard and Dennis Antkowiak.  Benny finished with a par on the 18th hole to shoot 92.  This was one stroke better than Dennis to give Benny the win. Benny earned the victory flag and a $180 Visa Gift Card.

Division 5 was won by member, Cooper Melvin.  Cooper’s consistent play throughout the day earned him the win shooting 96, 4 strokes ahead of Zack Collins.  This is Cooper’s second win of the season on the Amateur Players Tour and was awarded $150 and a victory flag.

Next up for Birmingham is the Local Finals at Robert Trent Jones Capitol Hill (Senator and The Judge) on Sept 10th and 11th. There we look to crown five tournament champions and five Local Players of the Year. They will be closing the Senator the day after we play it to get ready for the Symetra Tour the following week, so the course will be in prime condition. The 2023 season is also just around the corner and memberships are open for 2023. Check out our website for more information at www.amateurplayerstour.com.
