Reserve at Spanos Park Golf Course Tournament Results

On a sunny and warm Father’s Day Sunday, the Amateur Players Tour North Cal Chapter headed out to the San Joaquin Valley to compete at The Reserve at Spanos Park. The Reserve at Spanos Park is home to the University of the Pacific Golf Team as well as regional host site for the 2022 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship.  The course conditions were great with the wind conditions being light and variable.

Division 1 was decided between two APT frequent competitors Dillon Rafferty and Ony Velez. After an opening nine 37, Dillon opened a two-shot advantage over Ony and his 39. After a solid birdie by Ony and tough bogey by Dillon things would be all tied up after ten holes.  The players would battle over the next few holes, but it would be the par three 13th and 15th that would be the difference. Dillon would make two bogeys while Ony would escape with two pars. Ony was award $100 Visa Gift Card and Sterling Glass Decanter.

Division 2 was decided early on as newcomer Andrew Reyes shot an opening nine 37 which was good enough for a three-shot lead over Che Touch’s 40.  The back nine would be similar as Andrew made two bogeys, two birdies and five pars on his way to a closing nine 36.  Andrew is a solid player and is well deserving of the promotion to Division 1, we look forward to seeing what he can do at the next level. Andrew was award $100 Visa Gift Card and Sterling Glass Decanter.

Division 3 was a battle as four main competitors battled hard and finished within four shots of each other by days end. Early on, it looked like things would be going all one way as the players left the front nine where Steven Archuleta 40 had a three plus shot lead over Felix Monjes 43, AJ Quintero 44, Nate Berumen 45. Just like division one, things would change quickly on the back after Steven allowed the field back in it after back-to-back doubles on the 10th and 11th. Steven would see Felix Monjes and AJ Quintero tie him up at +8 with Nate Berumen just two back at +10. Steven would answer with a well-timed birdie on the 12th to take the lead by two and head to the 13th tee. AJ Quintero would tie things up after making a birdie on the 16th. After a wayward tee shot by Steven that went out of bounds on the 17th, AJ would find himself with a two-shot lead over both Steven and Nate while standing on the 18th tee. AJ would make a bogey on the 18th which would be good enough as Nate just missed a potential tying birdie putt.  AJ was award $125 Visa Gift Card and Sterling Glass Decanter.

Tracy Castro was our champion in Division four with a strong eight shot victory over his nearest competitor. Tracy opened with a solid 43 that would be good enough for a six-shot lead after the opening nine. Tracy would shoot another 43 on the back nine resulting in a grand total 86 to win his second straight event. Tracy was award $150 Visa Gift Card and Sterling Glass Decanter.

John Spradling was our champion in Division 5 with a two-shot victory over second place finisher JC Womack. It was a close battle between these two after an opening nine 45 for John and 46 for JC. Both players would stay within one shot of each other until the 15th where John would finish the next three holes in bogey golf, while JC would stumble making two triples during this stretch. JC bounced back on the 18th with a very solid par to close the gap, but it would not be enough this time to catch John. The battle between these two has been solid since the start of the APT last year and looks like it will continue as both players now have one victory on the year and the player of the year is separated by just 50 points. John was award $100 Visa Gift Card and Sterling Glass Decanter.
