2024 Pryor Creek

The APT Tulsa Chapter opened the 2024 season on a cold and blustery day at Pryor Creek Golf Club in Pryor Oklahoma on Sunday.  Dennis Bowman and his staff had the golf course in tournament condition despite the cool temps from the north wind.

With a strong field of players ready to make a return to competition and newbies playing in their first competition, weather conditions and fast greens proved a difficult challenge for everyone.  Four 2023 division “Player of the Year” champions made their 2024 debut this Sunday with one serving notice that he was up for the challenge of defending his crown.

Division 1 “Player of the Year” Andy Proctor proved why he was the victor in last season’s best race as he put on a steadily good show of golf shotmaking in the cool fall weather by posting a 79 to take top honors from last season’s runner up Sajan Patel.  Patel birdied the last two holes to make it close with a closing 81 with Mark Mogelnicki, who recently moved to D1 from D2, firing another 81 to tie for 2nd place.

Division 2 looked like a repeat as 2023 POY Josh Linn continued his steller play and looked to send a message to other division 2 players but local favorite Riley Reed, a former club champion at Pryor Creek, slid past Linn on the third hole of sudden death to steal the victory away.  Reed picked up his 2nd career win with APT to take the early points lead heading into the fall break.

Division 3 saw Keith Clark finally break through for his first APT win after finishing 2nd in the season opener in 2023.  Clark held on for the win as 2-time winner Norman Springwater closed the back nine with birdie but it was too little, too late for the Tahlequah native.  Michael King, James Borzone and newcomer Zach Hammock finished third.

Division 4 saw Owasso native Riley Hager overcome a slow start and finish with a back nine 37 to post 81 and take first place honors for the first time with APT.  Bill Casey and defending D$ POY Patrick Goodnight rounded out the podium.

Division 5 saw another first time winner as 20 year old Mason Reans, playing in his first stroke play tournament, shot a very good 91 to take the win over 81 year old Richard McMahan of Fort Smith Arkansas.  Steve Lumpkin saw his chances slip away with a closing 49 to post 97 and finish 3rd.

Senior Net winner Bill Casey of Owasso picked up his second APT victory by shooting a net 71, 1 under to beat Don Naifeh by 4 shots.

APT Tulsa players look to score more points with the upcoming Oklahoma City Chapter’s maiden event on October 22nd at John Conrad Golf Course in Midwest City, Oklahoma next weekend.  Spots are still available for those who wish to compete.

Keep an eye out for the upcoming 2024 spring season schedule which we hope to release in the coming weeks.
