2023 Piqua CC Golf Tournament Results

At Piqua Country Club we had 49 golfers come to play in our 5th event of the year.  The warm dry conditions saw terrific scoring throughout the field.  There were several birdies and even a few eagles mixed in during the round.

In Division 1 Dustin Fields started strong with an impressive 35 on the front with two birdies.  After a routine par on 10 Dustin would Eagle the par 5 11th and proceed to doing nothing worse than par until the 16th when he poured in another birdie.  After the 16th Dustin would make pars to come in with 33 for a 4 under 68 and a 5-shot victory.  This is Dustin’s first win with the APT this season.  Piqua member Andrew Arp was also impressive posting a 2 under 34 on the front nine and then coming in with 39 for a 1 over 73 and 2nd place.

In Division 2 Michael Bruesch score looked very consistent but it was highlighted with an impressive 3 birdies and an Eagle on the Par 5 8th.  After a 38 with a birdie and an eagle on front, Michael would make two more birdies on the back and come in with 38 for 76 and a 1-shot victory.  Andrew Bryant a new member of the APT was also lighting up the birdies making 4 of his own throughout the round.  Andrew would shoot an even 36 on the front and then come home in 41 for 77 and 2nd place.  Kip Gray also showed consistency with 39,39 for 78 highlighted by 3 birdies of his own.

In Division 3 Chip Schneider balanced out a few tough holes with a total domination of the par 5s.  After a birdie on the par 4 4th Chip would then birdie the par 5 5th and eventually the par 5 8th as well.  After going out in 39, Chip would come in birdieing the Par 5 16th and shooting 39 on the back for 78 and a 3-shot victory.  Corey Grant added 4 birdies of his own going out in 40 and then coming home in 41 for 81 and 2nd place.  Joshua Finton and Michael Harris would share third place, both posting 84.

In Division 4 18 holes were not enough as Robert Lawless and Chris Berry both tied in regulation with 87.  Robert, who last week came in 2nd losing a playoff at Streamsong flipped the script this day winning on the first playoff hole.  After an opening 47 Robert would come in with 40 for 87.  Chris Berry in his first tournament back with the APT after injury would also shoot 47, 40 for 87 highlighted by and Eagle at the Par 5 11th.

In Division 5 we had yet another playoff between Don Hubbard and Steve Michael as both players would post 89 in regulation.  Steve would put the pressure on by putting his drive in the fairway on the 1st playoff hole and later seal the victory with bogey on the first playoff hole.  Steve was consistent all day, going 45,44 for 89 and the victory.  Don Hubbard would shoot 43,46 for 89 and 2nd place after the playoff.  Steve Smith shot 91 for 3rd place.

In the Senior Net optional side game 18 players got in for the biggest game of the season thus far.  Both Michael Bruesch and Chip Schneider shot net 71’s for a tie for 1st place.  Michael Harris would shoot 74 for 3rd and Don Hubbard 75 for 4th.
