2023 Native Oaks Golf Tournament Results

The weather has been very un-SoCal like this winter, including the latest stretch this past weekend. The rain held off on Sunday though and players enjoyed an excellent new venue for the APT, Sterling Hills GC in Camarillo.

Division 1: Richard Cass made his first APT outing a winning one firing an excellent 76 from the Native Oaks black tees, good for a three shot win over recent major winner Christian Nicolini. While Richard didn’t have any birdies he made just four bogeys overall to claim the title of Masters Champion, a $160 Visa Gift Card, and the 2023 Masters Plate!

Division 2: Troy Sheeded put together a similar round to Richard- no birdies, but just three bogeys for an outstanding 75 from the APT Purple tees. Off in the first group, he had to wait around for others to finish but no one could match his stellar 36 on the back 9 (with 9 pars!) Hunter Thain continues his excellent play, finishing solo 2nd with a 79. Troy took home a $250 Visa Gift Card and the trophy, while Hunter earned a $70 Visa Gift Card. The same two are one-two in the season long points race, will anyone make a run to catch them?

Division 3: Salvador Montalvo Jr was very excited to make his seasonal debut, and his play showed it- posting 84 and a one shot win over Trustin Wadford. Todd Victoria held the lead at the turn with a 41, but Salvador and Trustin both posted 40’s on the back 9 to surge into the pay spots. Salvador earned a $220 Visa Gift Card and the trophy for his win while Trustin received a $60 Visa Gift Card for 2nd.

Division 4: The wet conditions were no problem for Dave Davidson, who proved his mettle in bad conditions a few weeks ago in Monterey. He claimed the D4 Senior title in the Monterey Pacific Classic and kept it rolling into the local event at Native Oaks- putting up an 84 from the APT Gold tees good for a whopping 11 shot win! His victory was good for a $240 Visa Gift Card and the trophy. Not only that, but two of his birdies also held up for an additional $144 in skins winnings!

Division 5: Last year’s D5 Player of the Year Dennis McZeal needs no introduction. He continued his winning ways on Saturday with a victory over Tommy Weatherby. The two were tied at the turn but Dennis pulled away late to claim the $80 Visa Gift Card and the trophy, along with valuable POY points in defense of his title!
