2023 Henry Horton Golf Tournament Results

[read_time]

On Saturday, March 18, the Nashville Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour held their second event fo the season at Henry Horton Golf Course in Chapel Hill, TN.  A full field of 100 players across 5 divisions competed for a prize pool totaling close to $3,700 and trophies.

In Division 1, Ed McDugle from the Memphis Chapter, who had his previously scheduled tournament cancelled due to the freeze and the course covering their greens, carded a +2 74 to win by three strokes over Drayton Cook from Thompsons Station, who posted +5 77. Ramsey Kimbrough of Soddy Daisy and Johnny Pierce from Chattanooga both finished tied for 3rd place a +6 78.

In Division 2, a battle brewed all day long and at one point on the back 9, no less than 6 players were tied for 1st place!  It would have made for an epic playoff, however, it did not finish that way.  Jon Rowden from Dickson, posts +7 79 and edges out Hank Wilson by one stroke to take the victory. John Bean from Nashville and Austin Stacey from nearby Lewisburg, both finished with +9 81 and split the 3rd place tie.

In Division 3, Steve Berger shook off the double-bogey start to shoot +8 80 and squeezes out the one-stroke win over Dattixay “Cino” Thammavongsa and Hutson Smith, who both posted +9 81.  Thammavongsa had a chance for birdie on the final hole to get into the playoff, but was not able to convert.  Smith was able to convert his birdie chance on the last to vault him into the 2nd place tie.

In Division 4, the winner was decided on the last hole in the last group of the day.  Colm Murphy from Murfreesboro made it back-to-back wins with a +12 round of 84.  He had to wait to learn his fate as Jason Bucher from Paris posted +13 round of 85 and had a chance to claim the trophy on the last green, but fell just short to finish in 2nd place.  Reid Kieswetter from Brentwood hangs on to 3rd place with a round of +15 87.  Two other players, Mike Burnett from Murfreesboro and Alex Brewer from Little Rock, AR finish in a tie for 4th place at +17 89.

In Division 5, after his 2nd place finish at Old Fort last weekend, Matthew Lacheta from Thompson’s Station grabs the three-stroke victory with his round of +14 86.  Madison Murphy from Charlotte places 2nd with his +17 round of 89.  Charlie Barrett from Primm Springs guts it out in the cold to take 3rd place posting +22 94.

In Senior Net, Ed McDugle “double-dips” and takes the Senior Net 1st place trophy by one stroke over fellow Division 1 competitor, Neil Master of Nashville and Charlie Barrett of Primm Springs.

The Nashville Chapter thanks all of our competitors for their participation and contributing to the our 2nd sellout of the season.  The staff at Henry Horton was very complimentary of our players and our chapter.  Thank YOU for making this chapter the best in the Nashville area!

Next up will be at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, TN on Saturday, April 1st.  It will be a one-day major where points will be doubled and a larger prize pool.  For more tournament info and to register, click the link below.
