The APT Las Vegas tour headed up I -15 to Mesquite Nevada for the Mesquite Challenge played at beautiful Falcon Ridge Golf Course . Despite the high wind and light showers, the players enjoyed a another great day on this challenging golf course.
Division 1
After finishing 1 shot out of a tie for first at Sand Hollow, Eric King [77] came to Mesquite looking to capture the trophy and he did just that by taking first place by 10 shots over second place finisher Josh Crossen [88]. Playing out of Kentucky, Eric is a force on the golf course and always tees it up to win. Some great golfers coming out of Kentucky as Eric’s friend Tony Wise took the championship at the Rio Secco earlier this year.
Division 2
Tony Shedeed [84] playing out of the APT Southern CA tour played some very steady golf holding off Mark Smith [85] by one shot to secure the championship. Tony is also the new tour director for the Southern CA chapter and is excited to win and take the trophy back home and show off. Well played Tony and we look forward to coming to play in some California tournaments this summer.
Division 3
Exciting day for this new member who had never played Falcon Ridge before, but Matt Baiza [85] played very steady and held off Mark Walker [86] by 1 shot to secure his first APT event. Matt is an exciting player and hits a long ball, was excited to hold off Mark who finished second at Sand Hollow the day before. Utah Chapter owner Dennis McGraw [89] finished third.
Division 4
Jeremey Conetah [89] playing out of the Utah Chapter ground out a two-shot victory in tough conditions over second place finisher Joey Filippi [91]. Chase Burbank [93], promoted himself to Division 4, took third place. Look for more championships from Jeremey in 2023 as the Utah season is just kicking off.
Division 5
This Division is stacked with several steady players, and it went to a playoff with Matt Walden [91] winning on the first playoff hole over Aaron Young [91]. Matt is a force in division 5 as this is his 4th win of the season. Matt will be looking for number 5 at the Spring Bash in April, but I heard Aaron wants some payback.
Senior Net
Another double dip this week as Division 5 champion Matt Walden [75] took a two shot victory over Division 2 champion Tony Shedeed [77]. Matt is on a roll in 2023!!!
