2023 Falcon Lakes Golf Tournament Results

[read_time]

It wouldn’t be our Season Opener at Falcon Lakes without fighting some serious wind, and this year was no exception! Mid 50’s and 20mph winds made for a battle on the course this year, but as always, there are those that prevail!  96 players battled it out in a sold out field for top honors at this year’s kick off, and in every flight the difference between first and second was only 1-2 strokes!  It was exciting to watch coming down the line!  Competitors battled tough winds and fast greens, but were blessed with stunning course conditions all around.

In Division 1, newcomer and home course golfer Erin Hatcher played steady golf all day, but the sultain Jacob Bruhn was right behind him!  Bruhn’s low ball flight worked perfect for the windy conditions, but ultimately, home course advantage paid off.  Erin kept it steady all day in the tough conditions, and carded a 4 over par 76 to Jacob’s 78 to take the win by 2.

Division 2 was another battle coming down the stretch!  A live scoring error would have sent two players into a playoff, but the correction at the scoring table decided a winner by 1 stroke.  Dillon Rogers, Brian Taylor, Justin Biggs and many more were all within a couple strokes of each other.  There was 6 players within 4 strokes of the winner when it came down to it, and Dillon Rogers ended up victorious.  Dillon has been working hard on his game, and seeing it pay off in these windy conditions, carding an impressive 8 over par 80, is exactly what he’s been looking for.  Brian Taylor finished 1 stroke behind to take second.

Division 3 was eerily similar to division 2, with a packed leaderboard at the top.  Ryan Lawless, who’s also been grinding on his game (I see his videos on facebook), finally put it all together.  Despite the close race, he was able to keep it together and shoot a nice round of 83, topping Sheldon Oots by 2 strokes.

Like I said, leaderboards were crammed at the top today, and division 4 was just like the rest.  With so many players within a few strokes, it’s easy to cave under pressure!  But Jim Reeves, who’s been close the last year or so, finally did it!  Jim held it together and came out on top with a one shot victory, shooting a solid 88.  Brandon Hale was hot on his heels, finishing in second and one stroke back.

In division 5, Alan Parker looked like he was going to take the win.  But Jonathan Gaikwad wasn’t so keen on that.  Coming down the stretch, Jonathan finished out solid to leapfrog Alan and get his first victory with the APT fam, besting Alan by 2 strokes and shooting a victorious 95.

John Fritz took home the victory in the senior net game.  Fritz had a solid round and is looking forward to that senior player of the year championship!
