Egwani Farms Golf Club in Rockford, Tn was in prime condition as we took on the course along the “LIttle River” from which the course name comes from.
Division 1 had two non-members show great fortitude by stepping up as first timers at an APT event and Colin McCabe and Peyton Butts matched 73’s to extend their day to a playoff. Colin McCabe took the “W” on the first playoff hole.... fitting after carding 5 birdies during his round.
Division 2 had several battles going on as Tommy Lee, Caleb Trentham, and Todd Holmes all shot 40 to lead after the opening 9 holes. Trentham and Holmes stumbled late and Mike Wilkins overtook Tommy Lee by hole 14, but Tommy Lee’s putting magic (24 putts on the day) had him retake the lead and the win with a 79. Mike Wilkins took second with an 81.
Division 3 was close as well. Joe Hess took the front nine lead with a 42, but eventual winner Colm Murphy was steady with matching 43’s front and back to win with an 86. Fred Tollett came in 2nd with also matching 44’s for a total of 88. Fred Tollett had the highlight of the day with the lone Eagle on hole #2.
Division 4 had Daniel England and Tyke Stogsdill jump to the lead after carding front nine 42’s, and Stogsdill appeared to be in control until 18 when England carded a final hole birdie to leapfrog Stogsdill. Final scores 82 England and 83 Stogsdill. Our newest member Brett Morgan made a respectable initial appearance placing 3rd.
Division 5 Chip Kirkland had a 3 shot lead after the front nine holes over Justin Skinner and they reversed roles on the back nine leaving them tied after 18 with matching 91’s. Skinner collected the win after the first playoff hole leaving Chip Kirkland in 2nd place for the event.
SR NET Was close between Mike Wilkins and Tommy Lee. Mike Wilkins held a one shot lead after the front nine (38) and held on for the win with a Net +3 over vs. Tommy Lee’s 2nd place finish at +5 over.
TN EAST’s next event will be Monday July 10th at the prestigious and beautiful McLemore golf course on Lookout Mountain, GA.
