2023 Boulder City Open Results

APT – Las Vegas had a FULL HOUSE for The Boulder City Open Championship this past Sunday. Scores were higher than normal with the wind gusting to 30 mph and the greens rolling fast and true.

Division 1

Playing in his first ever APT tournament, Josh Crossen [72] played impressive golf in the windy conditions and carded an even par 72, to secure the championship over second place finisher Sebastian Moad [80]. Congratulations Josh on the first of many wins on the APT tour.

Division 2

What started off as a runaway on the front nine for Thomas Sadorf [79]. The windy conditions made this division get very close at the end, coming down to the final hole with both players who were chasing needing big putts to get into a playoff. But Thomas held on to a 1 shot victory over second place finishers Mark Smith [80] and Ben May [80]. Thomas is a stalwart on the APT tour and is in great form for the 2023 season. Congratulation Thomas on the win!!!

Division 3

What a finish we had in Division 3 as it came down to the last couple holes but ended in a tie between Matt Baiza and Ernie Alaan both shot 82. So back they went to the number one hole, the par 5 that was playing long given the windy conditions. Both players tugged their tee-shots to the left, and both made good second shots just close to the green. Ernie ended up pulling out the victory with a solid par with Matt finishing second. David Teator [87] was third, 5 shots back. Congratulations Ernie on the solid victory!!!

Division 4

13 players competing in this division and again this came down to the final hole as Brennan Wedewer [89] led by one stroke down to the last hole. Eighteen always plays tricky, especially with the windy conditions. Brennan made a solid par from just short of the green to secure the victory, with Joey Filippi [90] taking second and Jimmy Izeluk [91] was third 2 shots back. This is Brennan’s first tournament on the APT tour as he just started playing golf 18 months ago – VERY IMPRESSIVE!!! We are in for a real treat as the season continues. Congratulations Brennan on your first APT championship.

Division 5

Two tournaments for the year on the Las Vegas tour and two victories. Utah’s Matt Walden [92] is rolling big time. Congratulations Matt for taking the trophy in Boulder City with a 3 shot victory over Aaron Young [95]. Wesley Raynor [96] took third place 4 shots back. Matt can’t wait for the next tournament as we know you are shooting for 3 in a row. Congratulations!!!

Senior Net Division (50+)

Another double dip winner this weekend as Ernie Alaan [Net 75) won his division championship and also took the Senior Net Division by 3 shots over Greg Roush, Eric Andrachik and David Teator who all tied for second. Ernie is a force on the APT tour and always comes ready to play at each event even when his back is in pain. Congratulations Ernie and a great Sunday!!
