2023 Atascocita Golf Tournament Results

The Houston APT tour entered the final stretch of the 2023 season with a tournament at Atascocita Golf Club on Saturday, August 12th.  APT members and guests took on a challenging course and the extreme Texas heat wave in stride as division champions were determined on final holes and final putts!    

Division 1 was shaping up to be a three man race mid-way through the back nine. Down by 3 at the turn, Marc Young (74) ground out a 1st place victory with a solid even par back nine. D1 POY points leader Philip Littlefield (76) was battling for first, but the seventeenth hole proved to be a difference maker and Philip finished in second place. Matt Moran (80) finished in third. 

Division 2 was a tightly contested race right to the end.  Jason Hawthorne (80) finished extremely strong going 2-under in the final 5 holes to squeeze out his third consecutive 1st place win on the APT tour! Darien Duhon (81) applied pressure on Jason with his birdie on #16 but fell 1-shot shy capturing a solo second place finish.  Jason McCain (82) had a shot at the win but found trouble down the stretch and finished in third. 

The first pairing in Division 3 had three players tied for the top spot as they hit their approach shots into the 18th green!  In dramatic fashion, James Medina (83) captured 1st place when he holed a 20’ birdie putt for the win.  Jack Anderson (84) claimed second place and Pat Ryan (85) finished in third place.  

In Division 4, Ben Sandoval (87) started strong with three consecutive pars and held the lead from the get-go to claim his first APT tournament victory.  Alvin Miles (89) tried to keep things close, finished in second place.  William Foster (91) playing in his first APT event finished in third place. 

Division 5 saw John Headley (94) post his best round of the season to grab 1st place and his first APT win. Wayne Jackson (98) and Apolonio Fama (103) finished in second and third respectively.  

In the Senior Net Division, Jack Anderson (+2) took 1st place, Pat Ryan (+5) finished in second place and Wayne Jackson (+7) finished in third place.
