The Birmingham Chapter continued the fall series with a one-day event at Riverchase Country Club in Hoover, AL. Thirty players braved the colder temperatures to battle it out for over $1700 in total prizes.
Division 1 was a battle on day long between Tommy Jean and Derek Nicholson. Both players posted rounds of 73 (+1) to tie for the victory. Due to darkness a scorecard playoff took place for the trophy and Tommy Jean posted a 34 on in inward nine holes to take the playoff. This is Tommy’s first victory on the Amateur Players Tour.
Division 2 was won by Kevin Schrum with a score of 80 (+8). Robert Graham finished in second place one stroke behind. Robert’s struggles on the par fives proved to be the difference in the tournament. Kevin was awarded the trophy and a $210 Visa Gift Card for his victory.
Phil Lambert used solid play all day long to post a round of 81 (+9) to cruise to a victory in Division 3. Tyler Slaten took second place to keep his solid start to the 2023 season going. Phil was awarded the trophy and a $210 Visa Gift Card.
Division 4 was a tight battle between Rodney Oden, visiting from the Tennessee East Chapter, and Danny Daniel. Rodney made the turn with a five-stroke lead after the first nine, however Rodney struggled on the back nine to open the door for Danny. Rodney finished the final four hole at two over to take the victory over Danny by two strokes. Rodney was awarded the trophy and a $140 Visa Gift Card.
Division 5 was a two-player battle almost all round long. Todd Gober used a birdie and four pars to post a 94 (+22) to take a three shot victory over Jeff Noel. This is Todd’s first victory for the 2023 season and was a well-deserved victory. Todd was awarded the trophy and $190 in tour credit to be used at future events. Congrats Todd on this victory.
Next up for the Birmingham Chapter is the 2-day Fall Series Finale at Dancing Rabbit in Philadelphia, MS on December 3-4, 2022. Registration is open and spots are still available. This event will have shotgun starts both days at 9:00 AM and players are signing up from over four different chapters.
