2023 Apple Valley Golf Tournament Results

At Apple Valley Golf Club we had 34 golfers come to play in our 3rd event of the year.  After the morning rain we saw the skies clear up and a golf course that was very wet that allowed for some terrific scoring throughout the 5 divisions.

In Division 1 Maxim Boone took advantage of soft conditions early coming out on fire with 2 birdies, and an eagle in the first four holes to be four under through four.  Maxim would play steady the rest of the front nine posting a 4 under 32 on the front.  Again, on the back Maxim stayed very steady with 2 bogeys and 7 pars to shoot 38 on the back for an impressive 2 under total of 70.  Chad Scott also posted under par on the front with 35 and a 38 on the back to post 1 over 73 for 2nd place.

In Division 2 Tyson Spence kept his winning form going with another impressive showing.  After back-to-back birdies on the front Tyson posted an even par 36 on the front.  He would add two more birdies on the back and despite one bad hole would post 40 coming in for 76 and a two-shot victory.  Stephen Phillips showed impressive form in his first Columbus APT tourney of the year.  After a 42 on the front Stephen played strong golf on the back with 1 birdie and 1 bogey for a 36 on the back and 78 for 2nd.  James Pearce had a similar round to Stephen with a 41 on the front and an 8 par 1 bogey 37 on the back for 78 to tie for 2nd.

In Division 3 Corey Kubbs played an extremely impressive first round with the APT posting 4 bogeys and 1 birdie for a 75 and a 3 shot win.  Corey’s impressive outing also led to a promotion to Division 2.  Rick Williamson went out in 41 and then posted two birdies on the back en route to a 37 and a 2nd place score of 78.  Adam Kohler went 44, 39 for 83 and 3rd place.

In Division 4 Ballal Joshi was very incredibly consistent having 13 pars in 18 holes.  After a front nine 42 Ballal came in with just 2 bogeys and 7 pars for 38 and a winning score of 80.  Like Corey Kubbs, Ballal’s great play has led him to a promotion to Division 3.  Zach Walker kept his fine early season play going with a 2nd place finish after shooting 43,38 for 81.  Mitch Van Hoose would shoot 43,45 for 88 and 3rd.

In Division 5 Brandon Turner would control the lead for almost the entire day.  After a consistent 45 on the front highlighted by 5 pars Brandon would come in with 48 for a winning total of 93.  Chuck Falter came in 2nd place with 48,51 for 99.

In the Senior Net optional side game Rick Williamson shot a net 73 for a one-shot victory of Chad Scott.  Ray Conley, Robert Lawless, and Chuck Falter all shot a net 81 for a tie for 3rd.

Closest to the Pins went to Mitch Van Hoose #5, Josh Hettinger took #7, Corey Carter #13 and Bryce Smith took #16.
