2023 Spencer T Olin Golf Tournament Results

The STL Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour visited Spencer T. Olin Golf Course over the weekend. 117 players tested their skills against this Arnold Palmer design. It was a perfect sunny and 75-degree day with a slight breeze throughout the competition.  

In Division 1, Michael Flynn ran away from the field shooting 2 under-par 70 with four birdies on the day. John Todd came in second shooting 3 over-par 75 to take home second place in the Open Division and taking home a victory in the Senior Division. Jayson Hoagland and Jake Aurelio both tied for third shooting 4 over-par on the day. 

In Division 2, newcomer Jonathan Collins of Edwardsville, IL made a statement shooting 3 over-par 75 to take home the trophy. We had a three-way tie for second between Mike Mervis, Zach Bryan, and Chad Henry all shooting 5 over-par 77. Mike Mervis chalked up another win in the Division 2 Senior competition with his score of 77.  

In Division 3, Kyle Shartzer found himself in the winner’s circle shooting 8 over-par 80 on the day to take home his first win of 2023. We had a two-way tie for second between Mark Brouk and Todd Feuerhaken, falling just one shot shy of Shartzer, shooting 9 over-par 81 on the day. Feuerhaken’s 81 held strong in the Division 3 Senior competition to take home the victory as his hot streak continues.  

In Division 4, James Outland of Maryville, IL had a spectacular day shooting 9 over-par 81 earning himself a victory for the 2023 season. Dauffus Jackson was hot on Outland’s heels all day long. Jackson just came up short shooting 10 over-par 82 on the day. The Division 4 Senior competition was tight all day long. We had a four-way tie for the win between Scott Clavenna, Rick Povis, Jeff Black, and Dave Draucker. With severe weather coming in, Rick Povis took home the trophy after the scorecard playoff. 

In Division 5, Kevin Brown earned his second win of the 2023 season shooting a great round of 13 over-par 85. Keith St. Pierre came in four shots behind Brown shooting 17 over-par 89 on the day. With our “Double Dip” option, Kevin Brown also took home the win in the Division 5 Senior contest maximizing his winnings. Byron Whitlock, and Charles Hicks tied for second place with 18 over-par 90.  

Next stop on tour is Lake Forest Country Club. This is a tour favorite located in Lake St. Louis Missouri. This par 72 Gary Kern design will test our players skills as they take on this championship caliber course.
