2022 Chapel Hills Golf Tournament Results

[read_time]

The Atlanta Chapter was at Chapel Hill Golf and Country Club on November 20th, 2022. Twenty-two players bundled up to stay warm with a high temperature of 40 degrees. Chapel Hill was in great shape and was a great test for all players.

Division 1 was won by Derek Nicholson with a score of 78 (+6). This is the second victory on the young season for Derek. Brandon Blanchard battled back from being five stroked behind after the front nine to get within one stroke of Derek. Derek was awarded the trophy and a $135 Visa Gift Card.

Division 3 had a first time winner on the Amateur Players Tour. Steven Smith posted a score of 85 (+13) to edge out the victory over the 2022 D3 Local Player of the Year, Shawn Powers. Shawn didn’t go down without a fight. Shawn lipped out a birdie putt on the 18th hole to narrowly miss out on a playoff. Mr. Smith was awarded the trophy and $190 in tour credit to be used at future APT events.

Division 4 has given us a repeat winner for the first time this season. Matthew Patterson used the knowledge of his home course to eek out the victory over Kip Moore. These players battled all day long but struggles by Kip on the final hole gave Matthew the victory. Matthew was awarded the trophy and $135 in tour credit.

Division 5 was one horse race all day. Johnathan Hunt used two birdies and five pars to cruise to a six-shot victory. Johnathan also took first place in the Senior Net event that puts any players 50+ the options to “double-dip” and play two events at the same time. Congrats Mr. Hunt on your victories today.

Next up for Atlanta will be Eagle Watch set for December 18, 2022. Registration is now open and all of us at APT-ATL wants to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.
