The 2022 Arnie’s Classic was held on Saturday, May 14th @ MBN King’s North Course in Myrtle Beach, SC. We had a SOLD-OUT field this event. Ryan and his staff were incredible as usual. Thanks to him and of course the Founders Group for allowing us to play on their courses. Once again, the course was amazing. You missed playing one of the best courses at the beach for sure.
All Winners received a crystal trophy and all players finishing in the money, received payout in Visa Gift Cards. The Total Prize Fund paid out was incredible, $1460. Not too bad for 48 players. Skins and Pins pot was $975
Div 1 – 6 players started the day battling for the crown. Ann Marie Costello (MB) playing in her first event of the 2022 season birdied 2 of her first 3 holes and held on to edge out Chris Collins (MB) by 1 shot. Ann Marie carded a +2 74. Jeff Helms (Charlotte) finished 3rd and our very own Travis (Elvis) Powell (MB) took 4th. Ann Marie received $120 for her win.
Div 2 – 12 players were in Div 2 and it was close all day. Travis Wartluft (Lake Wylie) made the turn at even par and held a 4-shot lead over Chris Conner (MB). Travis said his driver started failing him and struggled on his inward 9 and he shot 42. Chris stayed steady and after they both finished 18, they were tied at +6. Chris won the playoff to capture his 1st win on the APT. 5 shots separated the top 7 players. Michael Martin (Carolina Triad) took 3rd (+7) and Joey Todd (MB) rounded out the top 4 at (+8). Chris received $165, Travis $75
Div 3 – 9 players competed for title. Larry Smothers (MB), Jack Curry (MB) and Cliff Marcum (MB) battled it out the end. They lead went back and forth all day but in the end, Larry edged out both of them by 1 shot by carding a (+15). Jack and Cliff finished toed for 2nd at (+16) with Jack winning tie breaker. Jack Pereira our reigning National POY in Div 4. Finished 4th at (+19). Larry received $130, Jack $60.
Div 4 - Was our largest Division once again. 14 players started the day. JD Lee (MB) held a 1 shot advantage over Chris Huge (MB) and a 2-shot advantage over Ralph Perritano at the turn. Chris took the lead after #11. Chris ended with (84) holding on to win by 1 shot over JD (85) and 3 over Ralph (87). Brian Raymond (MB) finished 4th with Michael Burrage (MB) and Curtis Faison (Carolina Triad) finished tied for 5th. Chris received $170, JD $60 and Ralph $40.
Div 5 7 Players began the day and Bobby Peyton (MB)took the lead early and never looked back to capture his 3rd win of the season with a +20. Ricky Compton (MB) closed the gap on the inward 9 but finished 2 shots back. Greg Dover (MB) continued to improve and finished 3rd at +26 and Donald Baggett (MB) finished 4th. Bobby received $110 and Ricky $30.
