Wild Wing Plantation - Avocet

Conway, SC
Venue
Website
The Avocet Course at Wild Wing Plantation in Myrtle Beach is an 18-hole masterpiece designed by former PGA Tour golfer Larry Nelson and architect Jeff Bauer. Named the South Carolina Golf Course Owners Association’s “Golf Course of the Year” in 2002 and 2003, Avocet presents multi-level tees and greens, contoured fairways and some of the most cleverly conceived holes you’ll find anywhere. From the par-4 No. 6 features a triple-tiered double green that is shared with the par-3 No. 17 to No. 9, considered the Avocet’s signature hole, that features a double fairway divided by a grass line and deep bunkers, the Avocet offers something for all skill levels.

Pine Lakes Country Club

Myrtle Beach, SC
Venue
Website
Pine Lakes Country Club is the oldest golf course in Myrtle Beach, having originally been developed as a 9-hole facility in 1927; hence its nickname, “The Granddaddy.” Pine Lakes was designed by Robert White, the first president of the PGA, and was the setting for a group of Time Inc. executives to brainstorm the creation of a new sports magazine in the early 1950s – Sports Illustrated. Pine Lakes is also home to the Myrtle Beach Golf Hall of Fame. The clubhouse itself is considered a historic site and is protected by the National Historic Registry. In 2009, Pine Lakes completed an extensive restoration of its historic clubhouse and golf course. The entire layout was re-sodded with Seadwarf Paspalum turf in place of Bermuda grass. The re-designer, Craig Schreiner, swapped the nines so that the new front side, which showcases two brand-new holes, lends his own twist and style to the course, while the new back nine hearkens back to Pine Lakes’ Roaring ‘20s roots.

Dye Club at Barefoot Resort

Myrtle Beach, SC
Famed architect Pete Dye maintains his reputation of building memorable-and challenging-courses with the Dye Course at Barefoot Resort. This visually stunning design is filled with Dye's infamous pitfalls for wary shots. Working with exceptional elevations and an excellent site, this course lives up to the Dye name. Dye's course is one of four Championship Golf Courses built concurrently at North Myrtle Beach's 2,377 acre Barefoot Resort, and is the only one of the four to be semi-private.
