National Points System
Local Event – A 1-day or 2-day event on your Local Chapter schedule that is hosted or co-hosted by your Local Chapter.
Outside Event – A 1-day or 2-day event on another Local Chapter schedule, or a regional 2-day event that is not hosted or co-hosted by your Local Chapter.
National Event - Any event hosted or co-hosted by APT Events, LLC, including National Majors, North American Championship and Dormie Trips by APT.
Each player in a points event will receive a base number of points for participation in the event. The player must register, pay the entry fee, complete the event, and turn in an official scorecard in order to receive the Participation Points for the event.
Participation Points will be as follows:
- One-Day Event – 50 points
- Two-Day+ Event – 100 points (includes Three-Day Events)
- Chapter Finals – 100 points
- National Major – 100 points
- North American Championship – 100 points
Results Points in each stroke play or stableford scoring event will be weighted based on the size of the field in order to reflect the size/strength of the field so as to reward good results against larger fields. The number of Results Points available will be determined by multiplying the number of players in the field in each division by the Points Value for the event as set forth below.
Points Values shall be as follows:
- One-Day Events = 100 points per competitor in each Division
- Two-Day Events = 150 points per competitor in each Division
- National Majors & Local Finals = 200 points per competitor in each Division
- North American Championships = 300 points per competitor in each Division
EXAMPLE: For a One-Day event with 13 players in the Division, there will be 1,300 Results Points in the pool for that Division. For a Two-Day event with 24 players in the Division, there will be 3,600 Results Points in the pool for that Division.

Match Play Event Points
50 Participation Points shall be awarded for participation in any Match Play event.
Round Robin Match Play: Each match will be worth 50 points. If the match is halved, each player will receive 25 points. The winner of each match will receive the full 50 points. Winners that advance out of each pod will receive an additional 50 points.
Pod winners can be re-seeded into a final bracket to determine the match play champion for each Division. 50 points will be awarded to the winner of each match in the final bracket with an additional 100 point bonus to the winner in each Division.
Local Chapters may opt to host a Net Match Play Championship wherein the winners of each Division face off in net match play to determine the Local Chapter Overall Match Play Champion. 200 points will be awarded to the Overall Match Play Champion.
Seeded Bracket Match Play: A winner must be determined in each match, and 50 points will be awarded to the winner of each match. In the final round in each division, the finalists will compete for 1st and 2nd place while the semi finalists will compete for 3rd and 4th in a consolation match. Results points will be allotted to the top four places as follows: Champion = 250 Points; Runner Up = 200 Points; 3rd Place = 150 Points; Fourth Place = 100 Points.
Match Play Scheduling: Local Chapter Match Play may be held over a single weekend or a series of weekends throughout the season at the discretion of the Local Chapter Owner. National Match Play events may be held over a single weekend and/or the Tour may conduct a nationwide Seeded Bracket Match Play competition over the course of an entire season permitting the competitors in each Division to arrange dates and locations for their matches to be conducted within a minimum timeframe. Details will be announced as soon as possible each season.
Two-Person Team Competition Points
Participation Points shall be awarded in full to each competitor.
Results Points will be allotted to the pool for each individual entry in the field as follows:
- One-Day Event – 100 points per player in each Division or Flight
- Two-Day Event – 150 points per player in each Division or Flight
- National Event – 200 points per player in each Division or Flight
The Results Points will be awarded according to the Amateur Players Tour Points Matrix based on the matrix distribution for 50% of the total Results Prize pool.
EXAMPLE: If there are 22 players in a Flight for a One-Day Four Ball Event, there will be 2,200 points in the Results Points pool. Points will be awarded to each member of the winning team based on the matrix line for a 1,100 point event (50% of total). Each player on the winning team would receive 425 points, 2nd place would each receive 185 points each, etc.
Transfer of Points
All points earned in any Tour Event will transfer in full to the Local Player of the Year Races. Since points allotments are prorated based on the number of players in the field, there is no reason to discount points earned in Outside Events or National Events.
The formula below for determining LPOTY standings places emphasis on a player’s performance in Local Events. This will require Members to play and earn points in a minimum number of Local Events while also awarding them for playing well on the road.
Local Player of the Year Races
Player of the Year in each Division of each Chapter will be determined by tabulating the earned points for each Member as follows:
- One-Day Events – Best out of # of Events selected by Local Chapter. (75% of events used for LPOTY race must be LOCAL EVENTS)
- Two-Day Events – Best out of # of Events selected by Local Chapter. (One Two-Day points result must be from a LOCAL EVENT)
- Local Playoffs – (Based on Local Chapter rules)
- Local Finals
Local Finals and Local Playoff Events – Points earned in your Local Playoffs and/or Local Finals will be added to LPOTY races as additional points earned. These points will not replace any One-Day points earned or Two-Day points earned. This is to encourage Members to play as many events as possible in order to have an opportunity to replace poor finishes with better finishes later in the year. It is also to encourage Members to play all of their Local Playoff Events and Local Finals to add to their LPOTY points total.
(Example: Member has already established his/her top points events per Local Chapter rules going into their Local Playoffs...his/her points in the Local Playoffs and/or Local Finals will be added to Member’s LPOTY point total for the season. If Member does not met the minimum # of Events going into Local Playoffs, points earned in Local Playoffs and Local Finals will not replace previous points results.)
No points earned AFTER the Local Finals will be accrued toward LPOTY races.
National Player of the Year Race
The Tour will award a National Player of the Year in Divisions 1 through 5. NPOTY points for each Division will be tabulated by counting the points earned for each Member as follows:
- One-Day Events – Best 8 (lowest results discarded after 9 events completed)
- Multi-Day Events & National Majors – Best 4 Points Results. Match Play Events - Will count as a Multi-Day Event
- Local Finals
- North American Championship
National Player of the Year winners in each Division will win a $750 VISA gift card to be awarded at the conclusion of the North American Championship.
