The Amateur Players Tour Birmingham Chapter visited Gunter’s Landing Golf Club in Guntersville, AL on August 1st, 2021. 38 players from five different chapters competed for the right to be crowned champion. Play for the day got started on time, however, a lighting delay of nearly one hour caused issues early in the day. Tournament Directors and the Director of Golf worked together to keep players safe and to get players back on the course in a timely manner. The decision was made to resume play at 10:30, with a reverse shotgun that got tee times back on track. A special thanks to Gunter’s Landing Staff for working diligently to ensure player safety and helping getting players on and off the course.
Division 1 was a close battle for the first nine of play then Dana Amberson cruised to a five-shot victory, after posting an even par round of 72. After a double bogey on the par 3 tenth hole, Kevin Schrum birded holes twelve and thirteen to take the lead that he would not give up.
